It is no longer a secret that activated carbon is a great ally of beauty. With it you can whiten your teeth and add volume to your hair. But did you know that it’s wonderful for your skin?
Helps remove impurities and excess accumulated fat on the skin surface, cleaning your pores and making them look smaller.
Activated carbon is similar to ordinary charcoal, but is made specifically for medicinal use and is very porous.
Its porosity allows it to trap impurities. For this reason, it is used to treat poisonings, intestinal gas and nausea ( 1 ). It is estimated that coal reduces the absorption of poisonous substances by up to 60%.
When applied to the face, it acts like a magnet absorbing toxins and impurities from the skin. If you want to get rid of acne caused by heat and humidity, and cleanse your skin thoroughly, here are 3 excellent recipes for black masks:

Recipe # 1: Black Mask With Bentonite And Honey
The bentonite clay also acts as a magnet to extract dirt from the pores. Absorbs toxins, removes black spots and kills bacteria that cause acne. It can dry the skin a bit and that’s why the recipe includes honey.
Bee honey softens and soothes the skin, is antibacterial and helps anyone suffering from acne or imperfections.
This recipe uses tea tree, which is used for acne due to its antimicrobial properties, as well as lavender, which is recommended for the health of the skin.
1 teaspoon of bentonite clay.
1 teaspoon of activated carbon powder.
2 teaspoons of water
½ teaspoon of honey.
½ drop of each tea tree (optional).
½ drop lavender essential oil (optional).
In a small glass bowl pour water and essential oil. Sprinkle the bentonite clay over the mixture. Allow it to be absorbed 10 seconds before adding the rest of the ingredients to make it easier to combine.
Use a small rubber spatula to mix. The clay will make lumps, so it will take a few minutes to mix it completely. It will reach you for 2 facial masks.
Once the mixture is integrated, apply it liberally on your face. Let it dry 10 minutes, before washing with soap and warm water.
Note : this mask should be used only once and it is not good to store it, as it does not have preservatives.
The charcoal will dye the fabrics of light color and also your sink. Keep it from falling on your clothes and immediately clean your sink or sink.
This mask can be difficult to remove. The mild soap helps to remove the rest of the carbon from the skin. Using a washcloth also helps, but consider that using it can be very irritating if your skin is sensitive.
This mask can dry some types of skin, especially if you use soap to remove it. Then apply a thin layer of sweet almond oil, pumpkin seed or your favorite facial cream.
RECIPE # 2: Removable Black Mask
This recipe is very simple and contains only two ingredients that are cheap and easy to get: carbon tablets and PVA glue.
Pour the PVA glue into a container. It sounds a bit strange, but use a brand that is not toxic so it does not damage your skin. Remember all the times that in pre-school you tied it on your hands to take it off afterwards. You will do the same here.
Add the charcoal until the mask looks pure black. If you use capsules, open them and pour the powder into the glue. If you use tablets, first crush them in a separate container.
Apply it on your face. You can use a makeup brush or just your fingers. Let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes.
When it is dry, it begins to take off slowly. This could hurt a bit if you have facial hair. Try to get everything you can from the mask, since that will extract all the dirt, especially the hidden in the pores ( 2 ).
If you have any discomfort, or see that some sections of your mask have cracked or crumbled, use a warm, clean towel with circular motions.
You can also use the mask in a specific area, such as the nose, where it works as a strip for pimples.
Your pores will be clean and not only look smaller, but your face will look incredibly fresh.

RECIPE # 3: Black Dots Eliminator Mask
This mask will reduce the size of the pores, improve the texture of your skin and reduce imperfections.
1 ½ teaspoon of bentonite clay.
2 capsules of activated carbon or ¼ teaspoon of activated carbon powder.
1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.
1 ½ teaspoon of water
Open and empty the two activated carbon capsules and mix all the ingredients in a homogeneous paste.
Remove this mixture with a plastic or wooden spoon, since both coal and clay extract toxins from metals. Be sure to store it in a non-metallic container.
Attention! Do a test on the bottom of the wrist to make sure you do not have adverse reactions (an important step when trying a new product, even if it is natural).
Wash your face with a mild cleanser and partially dry it, so that it is not wet, but moist.
Apply the mask evenly, avoiding the delicate skin around the eyes and lips. Let it rest for 7 to 10 minutes, until it dries.
As it dries, it will begin to feel tight on the skin, you may even feel a little itchy. If you start to feel very uncomfortable, take off the mask.
Wash it, pat it gently on the face with a clean towel and apply a natural moisturizer.
So that there are no traces of activated charcoal in your pores, it is best to exfoliate the face carefully beforehand, preferably the night before so that the skin does not get irritated when applying the mask.
You can also gently exfoliate the skin after rinsing the mask and thus remove any remaining activated charcoal.
You can apply a facial oil to loosen the activated carbon and lift it from the pore.
There you go! With a few ingredients, you can make a black mask quickly and easily. You will feel your skin clearer, detoxified and smooth.
